Welcome to the SECAA Workshops Hub!
This is a new program designed to help meet the needs of both comedy troupes in search of workshop programs, and acting/comedy instructors in search of clients. The idea is simple: We draw from our resources of brilliant minds to assemble a panel of some of the best, most reliable workshop presenters in the country, and we help people in search of those presenters, connect with them.
That's it. That's the whole program.
The CHOICE of which presenter/workshop is best for the troupe, belongs to the troupe.
The CHOICE of whether the troupe's offer is enough to merit the trip, belongs to the presenter.
In fact, ALL negotiations between presenter and client are two way, and do not involve SECAA. We're just there for the introductions.
"But if that's true, why join this program? Why not just use our SECAA networking to do it unofficially?"
That's a good point, and there is nothing wrong with working unofficially, utilizing the relationships SECAA offers freely. It's one of the reasons our Alliance is there, anyway! But there are several benefits of going official.
PRESENTERS! BENEFITS FOR BECOMING A SECAA-RECOMMENDED WORKSHOP PRESENTER:
- We do the work for you. Troupes seeking workshops will post on our forum, where other troupes post, which translates to more opportunities for you.
- Involvement in a peer-reviewed presenter panel. Each of your workshops will be evaluated by the attendees, to give you feedback, at no cost to you.
- Your process need not change. Charge whatever you normally charge. Discount however you normally discount. We don't make anything off of it, so we don't care. The choice is yours.
WORKSHOP ATTENDEES! BENEFITS FOR USING SECAA-RECOMMENDED WORKSHOP PRESENTERS:
- Quality assurance. Each workshop presenter must submit a resume and applications to SECAA before we even recommend them to you. Plus, afterward, attendees fill out evaluations and send them back to us. We will always strive to ensure that your workshops are of the highest quality. You could go looking on your own, sure, but beware of strange people you meet on the Internet. They're not our people.
- Options. You name the topic you'd like improvement on, and you never know- three or four presenters might offer workshops on it. You now get to choose, based on geography, price, difficulty level- whatever! We'd like to be the Priceline.com of workshops.
So keep your eyes peeled for the unveiling of this program. We're already on Phase 1.
